Single Ikkat , 5.9m long green saree with beautiful elephant patterns in yellow motifs, intricately detailing. In this technique, instead of dyeing both warp and weft, either only warp or weft is dyed using the resist dyeing technique. Patola sarees is often passed as an heirloom. Both sides of Patola saree display the same design. The elephant, parrot, peacock and kalash are considered “saubhagya ” meaning good luck. Weavers normally work for 12 hours daily and yet it takes one and half years to complete 1 Patola saree. They make a priceless possession. Patola is deriverd from a sanskrit word ‘ Pattakulla” meaning Silk fabric. The Patola saree design has evolved from the days of sultanate reign and the era of royals to developing a signature style in Gujarat. Can be worne with matching or contrast blouse for contemporary look.
